Maine DeMolay Fishing Derby
Written by Andrew Cotterly on February 08, 2010
Event date: February 08, 2010 to March 08, 2010

All throughout the month of February we are holding an ice fishing derby for Maine DeMolay. There will be prizes for first, second, and third place in the derby along with some other small prizes. The Rules are as follows:

1.) The fish must be caught within the month of February ( I will be checking the electronic dates of each photo to confirm it)

2.) Record the measurements and take a picture of the fish next to a ruler for both it's length, height, width measurements (Dorsal and Ventral fins don't count for width) - The highest overall volume wins first place in the tournament and so on for second and third.

3.) Submit all your photos by either uploading them to the Event Wall (Facebook) for this page or to the State Master Councilor's e-mail (Noah.valleychapter@gmail.com) with your name and the measurements of your fish written.

Prizes:
1st - $25 cash and a tackle box.
2nd - $15 cash and fishing bait
3rd - $10 cash and a pocket rod.

Something to keep in mind!

This Saturday - Feb 13th - a fishing derby will be held at Little Ossipee Lake, since this date falls within the date range of Feb 13-14, which Maine state law counts as free fishing days when you can fish without a permit, Jeremy and I believe that this would be a great tournament to participate in for Maine DeMolays fishing derby. There are tons of great prizes to be had if you wish to join the Little Ossipee derby, or you can just fish on your own. This is Little Ossipee's 11th annual fishing tournament so you will expect a lot of competition. Jeremy and Noah will be getting onto the ice around 4 am to start drilling our holes - This is how early you want to be if you want a chance to find a good fishing spot.

11th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament:
Location: Little Ossipee Lake, Waterboro, Maine- Rest area Rt 5
Date Sunday February 14th, 2010, (Alternate Sunday February 21st)

Maine DeMolay Conclave Recap
Written by Andrew Cotterly on July 06, 2009

What an exiting weekend it was. DeMolay boys from all across the state of Maine came to Colby College to participate in an event packed full of Food, Fun, and Fellowship. We also had guests from Atlantic Provinces and Connecticut who joined us in our festivities.

Moving through various athletic events that ranged from Cribbage and Chess to the 100yrd Dash and Two-man swimming relay to test their strength, and ritual events to test the boys knowledge. Each chapter competed against each other to see who would come out on top. It wasnt a surprise that few DeMolay boys got much sleep during the weekend.

One momentous occasion was the re-starting of the Priory chapter right here in Maine. There will be a page devoted entirely to Priory on this site at a later time. New officers of Priory were chosen, amongst which, Andrew W. Cotterly was named the new Illustrious Knight Commander (Equivalent to Master Councilor) of North Star Priory.

The next day was one that was packed with competition and ceremonies. The Annual Tug-of-War competition was held as was the Annual Dodgeball Tournament; after which the newly invested Priory members challenged the whole of DeMolay, advisors included, to a match in Dodgeball.

After settling down from the highly active athletic events of that afternoon, the boys looked ahead to the culminating events of the evening. The State Master Councilors Banquet, Installation of State Officers and the Annual dance.

The banquet, amongst having good food, also had some distinguished guests as well. Most Worshipful Robert Landry: Grand Master of Masons in Maine as well as the Grand Worthy Advisor of Maine: Kaitlin Toto (IORG) joined Robert Franklin (State Master Councilor), Noah Bussiere (State Master Councilor-Elect) and Andrew Cotterly (State Junior Councilor) at the head table. After many heartfelt presentations and thank yous, everyone gathered in Strider Theatre where the new State Officers were installed.

Following the installation, a dance was held with the Rainbow girls and everyone seemed to have a great time well into the night.

Sadly, with all meetings there must be partings as the next morning's awards ceremonies were held. The Spirit award went to New Marblehead Chapter while the Best Chapter at Conclave; the chapter with the most overall points from the Ritual Competition and Athletic events was Valley Chapter.

Congratulations to all the boys for a job well done, to the advisors who taught them well and to the parents who've supported them.
